A Praça da QE 40, no Guará II, vai se transformar em palco cultural para receber de São Luís do Maranhão, uma das mais antigas brincadeiras carnavalesca em atividade, o Bloco Tradicional Pierrot. O evento acontecerá no sábado, 20 de agosto, às 17 horas.
Esse evento que faz parte do projeto Sábado na Praça é o início das atividades de Os Candangos – Companhia de Teatro de Rua, entidade sem fins lucrativos, sediado nessa comunidade, que busca por meio da cultura popular nordestina; da educação, das questões ambientais e do esporte a inclusão de crianças, jovens e idosos em situação de risco social à sociedade. O espetáculo tem os apoios do Boi de Seu Teodoro, Administração Regional do Guará, Casa de Cultura, Junta das Prefeituras e Associações do Guará (JUNPAG), Associação Comercial, Industrial e Empresarial do Guará (ACIG), Prefeitura da QE 40, Associação Gueto Unido, Padaria Extra Pão, Mercado Centro-Oeste, Ângela Alves Cabelereira, Welty, Expresso dos Alimentos e da Play Som, Iluminação e Imagem.
O Bloco Tradicional PIERROT foi fundado no dia 12 de novembro de 1951, no Bar do Senhor Godofredo — “GULEMADA”, situado na época na Rua Jansen Muller nº 12, onde hoje funciona o bar do Rui, no Centro de São Luís. Nesta década, não era qualquer um que poderia fazer parte desta família, pois um dos requisitos para participar da brincadeira carnavalesca era ser sócio do Lítero ou do Cassino Maranhense (clubes da elite maranhense).
O bloco encerrou suas atividades no ano de 1998, após obter a segunda colocação no desfile oficial promovido pela Prefeitura Municipal de São Luís.
Já é difícil nascer uma vez, quem dirá três vezes. Mas não se sabe se por desígnio divino ou por determinação dos que guardaram o PIERROT dentro de si, feito relíquia, quis o destino que a brincadeira renascesse mais uma vez para alegrar o carnaval e fazer com que muitos relembrassem o jeito simples de brincar nas ruas.
O bloco ressurgiu após 11 anos e trouxe consigo a mesma energia que marcou a sua trajetória desde o seu ano oficial de nascimento, em 1951. O PIERROT não perdeu suas características marcantes, que é a vontade de brincar por brincar, de estar em família e em meio aos amigos.
A essência do bloco foi mantida em todas às vezes que despertou. A essência do PIERROT é a mesma das festividades de Momo, daí por isso classificar o bloco como essência do Carnaval.
O saudosismo, o estilo cadenciado, a busca pela qualidade sem perder a nostalgia dos velhos carnavais, tudo isso traduz o Bloco, que hoje é um dos mais velhos representantes da categoria Blocos Tradicionais.
Blocos Tradicionais – surgidos na primeira metade do século XX, os Blocos Tradicionais por muito tempo foram conhecidos como Blocos de Ritmo ou Blocos de Tambor Grande, devido a sua cadência rítmica, bem como pela utilização de contratempos — grandes tambores de compensado, cobertos, em geral, com couro de bode, que acompanham os sambas que trazem à memória os antigos carnavais de São Luís.
Além de ser marcada pelo som peculiar dos contratempos, a musicalidade dos blocos conta com a percussão de marcações, retintas, cabaças, reco-recos, agogôs, afoxés, ganzás e rocas. O som resultante favorece a fusão com diversos estilos musicais, que animam a dança dos tocadores e demais brincantes, chamados de balizas, que realizam uma coreografia saltitante.
Os Blocos Tradicionais também se caracterizam pelo esmero com que produzem o figurino: apresentam-se com fantasias luxuosas, com golas, mantos, chapéus, camisões, cangas, perneiras e botas.
Na atual dinâmica do carnaval maranhense, cada bloco escolhe anualmente um tema, que serve de inspiração para a composição das letras dos sambas e para a criação das fantasias. Os grupos apresentam-se em diferentes espaços, com destaque para a passarela do samba (local onde disputam o título de campeão do carnaval) e os circuitos de rua, embora também realizem apresentações e atividades durante outras épocas do ano. Nessas ocasiões, saúdam o público com sua expressão característica: “Vai Querer, Vai Querer?!”
