Vieira informou que considera graves as denúncias feitas pela imprensa e que vai buscar mais informações sobre o assunto. “Levando em consideração a magnitude da empresa, vou buscar informações oficiais para trazer a esta Casa”, disse.

“Sra. Presidenta, Sras. e Srs. Deputados, eu gostaria de trazer ao conhecimento deste Plenário uma situação muito difícil que está ocorrendo no meu Estado do Maranhão entre a companhia Vale e os empreiteiros locais. Os empreiteiros locais estão acusando a Vale de promover uma quebradeira geral — mais de cinco empresas acabaram de quebrar — , e a Vale diz que os empreiteiros locais é que não cumprem exigências que ela faz nos seus contratos.
Sra. Presidenta, estou buscando os dados. Espero trazê-los a esta Casa e à comissão específica, a ser formada já na semana que vem, para que haja aqui uma discussão dos Estados do Maranhão e do Pará com a companhia Vale sobre o que está ocorrendo nos dois Estados. Obtive importante convivência com a área de mineração por ter participado do Projeto Carajás e sei também dos ganhos e perdas para o Maranhão. Não estou preocupado apenas com o factual.
Quero ter informações suficientes para trazer o assunto à Câmara dos Deputados. O problema é que a Vale, a maior empresa de mineração do país, nunca estabeleceu e não estabelece um contato direto com a sociedade e isso é necessário. Por acreditar que uma empresa deste porte não compactua com essas denúncias da qual está sendo vitima, vou buscar fontes oficiais para tratar do tema. É o mais responsável a se fazer. Agora, caso não tenha retorno da companhia, serei obrigado a pedir que venham dar explicação na Câmara dos Deputados. Espero, sinceramente, que estas denúncias sejam esclarecidas.”
Seria necessário também que os deputados estaduais do Maranhão buscassem esse assunto para discussão no Legislativo maranhense, pois não é justo que empresas prestadoras de serviço da Vale vão a falência por não receberem por seus serviços e, por conseqüências, pais de família fiquem desempregados em decorrência da falência dessas empresas. Cadê os lucros extraordinário da Vale? Com certeza não está ficando no Brasil!!!
